Calcium chloride is the main raw material of calcium chloride desiccant, which is refined by reaction synthesis, filtration, evaporation concentration, drying and other methods. The solution is colorless or granular, and tastes bitter. It can be used as gas desiccant and dehydrating agent in the production of alcohol, ester, ether and acrylic resin.
So what are the changes in the moisture absorption process?
1. Powder before moisture absorption
The interior of calcium chloride is powdery and can turn into white powder. Moisture absorption did not begin at this time.
2. Start absorbing water
Moisture absorption mainly starts from the four sides, and then slowly penetrates into the middle, and there will be obvious color changes.
3. Caking occurs
Because when calcium chloride absorbs water, it will produce a chemical reaction and slowly harden and agglomerate from the powder. At this time, there will be agglomeration.
4. Semi fluid
With more and more water, it gradually forms a semi fluid state. At this time, it can continue to absorb water in the air.
5. curing into gel
At this time, the calcium chloride desiccant slowly solidifies into jelly like colloidal material, and the moisture absorption efficiency begins to approach saturation, but it can still absorb moisture.
6. Formed after moisture absorption
Cut off the DuPont paper package on the outside, and you will find that there is gel jelly inside, and there is no water, so there will be no leakage.
Calcium chloride desiccant will produce liquid water when absorbing water in the air, which is easy to leak. If calcium chloride water leaks out at this time, it will have a great impact on the dehumidification effect of the product. Calcium chloride absorbs moisture in the air and remains in liquid water for 2-3 days. It forms a gel like calcium chloride desiccant through internal decomposition reaction to lock water. In the production process, we pay most attention to the leak proof protection after calcium chloride turns into water. So, how should we choose effective wrapping paper?
The packaging paper with good air permeability must be selected for the packaging of desiccant, so as to ensure the contact between calcium chloride desiccant and air, so as to carry out effective moisture-proof and dehumidification. However, if it is ordinary breathable packaging paper, it can not effectively prevent calcium chloride from leaking, such as non-woven fabric, Aihua paper, OPP film, etc. These breathable wrapping papers can not be used for calcium chloride and have no leak proof ability. We should choose some higher grade wrapping paper to effectively prevent liquid leakage.
